If an external uploader or new staff member mistakenly uploads an asset or assets without the correct naming conventions, you can update the filename(s) within Vault. Note that the name change will affect where the asset appears in search results when the Filename Sort option is in use.

The name change will be recorded under the asset's History tab with a timestamp and the user responsible for the change.

Change Filename (Individual)

  1. Select the asset
  2. Click the Info tab if not already selected
  3. Locate "filename" under File Information
  4. Click and make your changes
  5. Click the blue checkmark to save

Change Filenames (Bulk)

  1. Select the assets
  2. Go to More Actions at the top of the page
  3. Select "Bulk Update Meta" from the dropdown menu
  4. Click the filename box
  5. Enter the new name (i.e. Johnson_Family)
  6. Click Update to save

All assets in the bulk action will receive the new name "Johnson_Family," followed by a number. For example, if twelve assets are selected, the final asset would receive the filename "Johnson_Family_12." Like all metadata editing in Vault, you can update assets at any time.
